Eros
In Greek mythology, Eros was the primordial god of lust, love, and intercourse.
His name is the root of words such as erotic. In some myths, Exotic & Erotic
he was the son of the deity Aphrodite. Mighty Aphrodite
His Roman equivalent was Cupid, "desire", also known as Amor, "love".
Cupid
In Roman mythology, Cupid or Eros is the god of erotic love.
He is equated with the Greek god Eros,
and another one of his Latin names Amor (cognate with Kama).
Cupid and Psyche
The goddess Venus, jealous of the beauty of a mortal woman named Psyche, asked her son, Cupid, to use his golden arrows to cause Psyche to fall in love with the ugliest man on earth. Cupid agreed but then fell in love with Psyche on his own, or by accidentally pricking himself with a golden arrow.
