Touch of Evil (1958) 瑪蓮黛德麗!
















【聲音的痕跡The Imprint of Sound 】



改編自1956年Whit Masterson的plup novel (在美國流行文化中相當重要的廉價小說)《Badge of Evil》,這部堪稱B級電影經典之作的《歷劫佳人》,是《大國民》導演奧森威爾斯在好萊塢的最後一部影片,但同時也是40、50年代相當重要的B級電影類型黑色電影的終結者。這部1958年第一次問世的影片,雖然由威爾斯撰寫劇本及執導,但影片完成後,製片公司重新剪接甚至重拍部分片段,因此某程度來說,這是有「B級電影之王」之稱,本片的製作人Albert Zugsmith的版本。儘管如此,影片在美國上映後,口碑及票房上都差強人意,但歐洲的評論家卻大力讚揚,並在布魯塞爾影展大放異彩,獲得最佳影片。



在《歷劫佳人》問世40年之後,本片根據近來發現的58頁威爾斯手稿,重新剪接,跟之前的版本相比,較為貼近導演最初創作的想法,這個第四版本,在影片片段順序與交叉剪接部分,做了約50個更動,而其中最為明顯的,是開場長達3分鐘一鏡到底的鏡頭配樂,原先的版本是以美國當代音樂大師Henry Mancini(亨利曼西尼)氣勢磅礡的音樂揭開影片序幕,在新的版本中則以影片環境裡車上收音機音樂取代,片中部分音效也根據手稿重新修復。

Also, Welles always had a gift with actors, which certainly didn't fail him here. If Charlton Heston never seems convincing as a Mexican, his straight-arrow strength and thirst for justice certainly suit the role, while Janet Leigh is a virtuously sexy new bride, and Welles himself is superb as the bloated Hank Quinlan, who seems to be collapsing under the weight of his own corruption. (Welles also brought in a distinguished supporting cast, and Joseph Calleia, Akim Tamiroff, Marlene Dietrich, and Mercedes McCambridge all deliver performances as memorable as the leads.)

第一次在學校看只注意 Janet Leigh 奶子有多尖,希區考克為了懲罰晚進場的觀眾,讓艷麗的 Janet Leigh Orson 早早上演浴室驚魂記,而 Orson 大大彌補了這個缺憾。Orson 挺會拍美女耶!上海小姐的 Rita Hayworth 是我百提不厭的典範。 麗泰海華絲是上海小姐



第二次看才知道 Orson 的老相好吉普賽女就是瑪蓮黛德麗 (57),猶存風韻完全看不出來已經快60了。肥警察 (Orson) 還是一樣可怕,喬叔 (Akim Tamiroff) 繼續以他的假髮搏軍一笑,但我仍舊無法稱讚開場的長鏡頭有多高明。

這大家應該略有所聞,潔美李寇蒂斯的老爸叫 Tony Curtis,老媽就是鼎鼎大名的 Janet Leigh。
