For an overwhelming majority of the Usage Panel, the first syllable of this word rhymes with mane, and for a small minority it rhymes with mean.
But the film has no special insight into the psyches of either man, or into the broader issues of how to process profound loss or admit culpability for a heinous [act]. As pic offers scant emotional rewards or catharsis, it's hard to imagine auds flocking to this downbeat drama in any significant numbers.
Igby is the child of a malevolently malfunctioning family. His mother, Mimi (Susan Sarandon), is a tart, critical, perfectionist mandarin ("I call her Mimi because Heinous One is a bit cumbersome"). His father, Jason (Bill Pullman), went through meltdown and is in a mental hospital, staring into space.
